Potty Training... Egh.

We're knee deep in potty training Turtle... and when I say potty training, I mean put undies on the kid and send her out into the world (or in our case, daycare) and hope for the best.

When I was potty training Roo the first tie, I was a nervous bundle mess full of anxiety and gave up after a week of being covered in pee. The second time, she trained herself and I considered myself very lucky.

I also got lucky with Turtle. Sure, we asked her whenever we passed by a potty but it was always a "Nope." I didn't push it, falling back on my faith that she would do it when she was ready.

And you know what, she did.

She just started using the potty at home.

She would go into the bathroom, close the door and do her thing. She would come out, her face covered in the biggest grin and proudly bring me a potty full of pee as proof.

Girl just did it!

We went to Sea World and Disney in undies and had no problems. I would ask, and she would say "YES" and she would go. We would spend all day out doing errands with her in undies and we had no problem.

But school was another story.

She just wouldn't do it!

I didn't understand but I didn't push at all. I tried bribing her with toys and stickers but to no luck. She would sit, just wouldn't go.

Yesterday, her teacher and I decided she should just come to school in undies and we would just see what happened.

Well, she had two accidents.

Her teacher insisted I don't go back to diapers because it would just confuse her so today she ran up the steps to school sans diaper and I am crossing my fingers hoping it clicks at school like it did at home.

Wish me luck.

Walt Disney World's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Walt Disney World's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a mouthful.

But it's also fun.

Last Thursday, I was able to attend the event with my girls and my favorite cousin (Hi Cassie!) and no one does Christmas like Disney does Christmas.

We loaded up and headed out on a perfect night (crisp and cool which is rare in Florida!). Walking into the Magic Kingdom and being greeted by friendly cast members all decked out in Santa hats and jingle bells instantly puts all in a great mood.

Yes, it was crowded at first but that's just because there are still guests from the day on their way out of the park because the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is an exclusive event and they only let some many in.

Our night was totally sold out.

Disney never does anything halfway.

Every little detail is paid attention to and the decoration are amazing. There's lights everywhere, you can get hot cocoa and cookies to snack on and the lines for the rides are never longer than 15 minutes. It's the best event at Disney all year long.

They even have snow people (mind you, it's bubbles but it looks just like snow people!).

We even were able to take a peek at the all new Fantasy Land and ride the new Ariel ride!

I was in heaven and my girls had a blast.

The only problem I had with the event was during the fireworks, Turtle decided she wanted nothing to do with them. Of course, we had to worm our way through the crowd... the problem with that is that people don't want to move to allow you to get by. We got caught in a swarm of people that refused to budge so we could get by. Normally, Disney always has a path in crowds for just this reason. Not where we were and it was miserable trying to get by. It took us about ten minutes to push through people just to get to safety.

Walt Disney World's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is going on now during select dates. For all the information, check out their website

I received tickets for my family to attend this event. All opinions in this post are 100% my own.

Del Monte's Add Some Garden Contest

I am a sucker for fruits and veggies and I love adding them to any dish to bring some yummy flavor.

Also, I sneak them in so my picky kid's will eat them.

Del Monte is a great choice for my family. They are convenient and always yummy plus they have essentially the nutrients that fresh veggies have (they last longer for me too).

The "Add Some Garden" Facebook contest is in full swing and you can enter (I just did and it's easy peasy). All you need to do is visit the Del Monte FB page (between November 5th and February 4th) to win some great prizes (including appliances and William Sonoma gift cards!)

There are five phases of the contest where you go on the FB page and tell them what fruit or veggie you would add to your recipe. Every two weeks, the item changes.

The items are according to a schedule and that schedule is:
    • Green beans (November 5- November 18)
    • Corn (November 19- December 2)
    • Tomatoes (December 3- December 16)
    • Peaches (January 7- January 20)
    • Pears (January 21- February 3)
After you've entered, fans of the FB page will have five days to submit and then consumers vote for the best and at the end of the contest, the top five winning recipe tips will be up for the Grand Prize, a culinary travel adventure valued at 10K!

This week was corn, so my tip was to add it to a Mexican casserole dish with chicken and peppers and tons of Mexican cheese. The corn would add a yummy crunch to the meal plus help out the healthy factor.

To celebrate, I'm giving away a Del Monte gift pack so you can add in the yummy (and nutritious!) veggies and fruits to your favorite dishes.

The gift pack contains:
  • Five (5) Del Monte canned varieties- Green Beans (1), Corn (1), Diced Tomatoes (1), Peaches (1), and Pears (1)
  • $25 Visa gift card

All I need you to do to enter to win is tell me what your favorite Del Monte fruit or veggie is.

Easy, huh?

Comment away!

This contest will run for two weeks and end on December 5th, 2012.

Good Luck!!

The Del Monte product, information and gift packs have been provided to me by Del Monte. All opinions in this post are 100% my own.

Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups

There's something about talking dogs that my kids adore.

The whole Puppies franchise from Disney is one of them.

The latest DVD to hit the scene is Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Check out the trailer:

The premise of the movie is that Mrs. Claus has to travel to Pineville and the Santa Pups sneak into her sleigh and tag along. And if you know those pups, you know they get into trouble along the way. Their goal is to grant wishes to the boys and girls of Pineville but, as always, something goes wrong. The pups have to save the Christmas spirit and they have to save Christmas!

The entire movie is cute and my girls adore it (they've watched it a dozen times in the last week).

Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups hit store shelves on November 20th just in time to enjoy for the holidays,

NYTMBlog Travels: Review of the Chevy Equinox

Vehicles are my thing.

I love them and driving is a passion of mine.

There's something about the stylish nature and the freedom that comes along with driving. Driving is a way for me to escape too.

And if I'm doing it in a hot car, I'm all about it.

I recently got to test out the 2012 Chevy Equinox and I loved it.

It's cute, compact (yet roomy) and oh-so stylish.

The gauges are all tucked nicely together, plus they light up bright at nighttime.

One of my favorite parts about the Equinox was the satellite system and the temperature gauge that told me how hot it was outside (it's the little things in life that make me happy).

Don't judge me for listening to Britney Spears.

The Equinox had sweet, smooth black letter with red stitching (a beautiful touch, in my opinion) and the seats were programmable so when I got in I could push a button and it would remember my perfect seatings.

The console was deep and could hold diapers, water bottles, cds and more. Plus, it had a light in the console which was super helpful (consoles never come with lights in them so BRAVO Chevy!).

The ride was smooth and the car was easily manageable. It was also roomy, just perfect for a family of four with strollers, diaper bags and toys to entertain the kids.

The lasting impression that the 2012 Chevy Equinox left was a good one. It was a smart little ride that got great gas mileage and comfortably seated everyone in my small family. The girls weren't too close together to fight in the backseat and they were close enough to me that I didn't have to stop the car to hand them things from the drive thru (Yes, I take my girls through the drive thru!).

You can find out more information about the 2012 Chevy Equinox from a local dealer or through Chevy's website.

Thank you to GM in the Southeast for the vehicle loan so I could write this review. All opinions in this post are 100% my own.

NYTMTravels: Dinosaur World

ROOOOAAAARRRRRR.

I've lived in Florida my entire life (Woot!) and have never been to Dinosaur World.

Roo has lived in Florida her entire life and has never been to Dinosaur World.

Boo.

For someone who loves Dinosaurs, her mother sure is slacking.

Yeah, well, we changed that scenario.

For Fall Break, I loaded with the girls in our rented GM Equinox and we drove out to Plant City to check out Dinosaur World.

Obviously, there are dinosaurs everywhere.

My girls were in HEAVEN.

Dinosaur World is a beautiful park that has over 150 life-size Dino replicas scattered everywhere.

Roo was in heaven!

They have a great trail that winds you through acres and acres of lush green Florida swamp (yes, there are bugs but you can buy a cute big repellent bracelet in the massive gift shop to solve that problem).

Who wouldn't want to stick their head in a dinosaur's head?

You don't see that everyday.

Roar!

Dinosaur World was a great place to visit. It wasn't too crowded or hot and the girls had so much fun. They were able to check out fossils, dig for dinosaur bones, play on two great playgrounds, visit a cool museum (with animatronic dinosaurs) and dig for real fossils (we got sharks teeth!).

I'm ashamed that we've never been before!

And if we lives closer (Plant City is about 75 minutes from our house), I would buy a year pass and visit weekly (it's that nice!).

So if you're ever in Plant City, I recommend you check it out.

I received media passes for this review. All opinions in this post are 100% my own. Thanks!

Huggies Little Movers Giveaway

You know what the one thing I always have in my house is.... diapers.

Yup, diapers.

Turtle isn't potty trained yet so we always need diapers.

I can be out of milk, eggs, deodorant, saline solution, aspirin, whatever... but I can never be without diapers.

I've got Turtle in Huggies Little Movers diapers because sister cannot sit still.

Ever.

Girl is always on the go.

Poor Mama can't keep up!

I love the Little Movers because they move with her and have phenomenal leak coverage.

I've teamed up with Huggies to giveaway four packs of their amazing Little Movers diapers to two lucky winners. Yes, you read that right FOUR PACKS to TWO WINNERS!

Score!

All you need to do is leave me a blog comment on what you look for in a diaper.

Easy huh?

This giveaway will run until November 20, 2012 and is open to US residents.

Good Luck!

I received diapers in exchange for this post. Yes, I work for diapers. All opinions in this post are 100% my own!

Hallmark's Disney Recordable Storybook

Ever since I learned to read, I've been a book nerd.

A total book nerd.

I love that my girls adore books the way I did (and still do).

The one thing they love best is when their Mama reads to them.

I have to be honest with you, life gets in the way and sometimes Mama is so tired and frazzled that I can't stop what I'm doing to read to them (yes, I know... this makes me a bad Mama. Trust me, I live with the guilt all the time).

Enter my salvation.

Hallmark and Disney have this great line of recordable story that come in handy when you are knee deep in laundry and your little one wants you to read her a story.

I love these things.

The pictures inside are beautiful.

All you do is follow the directions to record you reading the story and it sets it up (until you change it).

Then you hand it to your kiddos and let them entertain themselves.

It takes off loads of guilt.

Hallmark has a range of recordable books for you to choose from and more that come out all the time. You can find them at your local Hallmark store for purchase.

I was compensated for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.

Listerine Sweet Smart Challenge Wrap Up

Remember back at the beginning of October, I fessed up about my oral health?

So it's been a month full of brushing, flossing, rinsing... and repeating.

The whole family got into it.

Ignore Roo's crazy face, she means business when she brushes her teeth.

Turtle tried to fool me with the whole brushing twice a day thing.

Our progress report.

The goal was to instill good oral hygiene to the girls (and myself, remember). Studies from Listerine show that kids who brush their teeth and use the Listerine Smart Rinse have 99% stronger teeth than those that don't use the rinse. With the statistics out there about gum diseases (75% of adults suffer!) and that flossing and brushing only clean about 25% of your mouth, it propels you to brush your teeth more.

Statistics can do that to a gal.

So I'm happy to report that after a month of good oral habits, we have broken our bad ones. Our teeth are shiny and clean and that makes for one happy Mama.

Once you get into the routine, you don't really notice it taking up too much time or being a big hassle.

Whipppeee.

Check out Listerine products on store shelves and check out their website for all available products.

I participated in a campaign with the Motherhood and Listerine. All opinions in this post are 100% my own. Thanks!

National Novel Writing Month.

I've heard about NaNoWriMo for a while now... you can't be on the internet without hearing about it.

What is NaNoWritMo, you ask?

It stands for National Novel Writing Month and what do ya' know... it starts today.

Since I've graduated from my Masters Program (my friend kindly suggested I start calling it My Fucking Art degree... nice, huh?) I've been feeling a tad bit... lost.

My mind is a mess, I'm physically antsy... and you know what, it's probably because after you finish a degree program you hit a wall where your mind is mush.

Mine sure is.

So I just happened to be clicking around FB this morning and saw a friend's post for NaNoWritMo and made a swift decision to join in on the fun.

Now, I could be bitching and moaning about this hasty decision in a week or so, but who cares. I'm a firm believer in attempting and failing is better than just failing.

My goal is to spend today taking notes and coming up with ideas. I need to find a solid idea and RUN AWAY WITH IT.

I need to make a plan to write for the entire month of November, set goals, exceed my goals, remember why I love writing so much...

I'm excited.

And scared.

More scared than anything, but you know how that goes.

Have you ever done NaNoWritMo (this sucks to write out, just fyi).
