Friday Fun in Maitland.

One of my favorite Art Festivals opens up tonight.

The Maitland Art Festival!

The official title is: "Art Under the Stars, the 35th Annual Maitland Rotary Art Festival"

But Yay.

Here's some information from their website:

"A fine art showing and sale, 6pm-10pm Friday, 10am -10pm Saturday and 10am - 5pm Sunday, surrounding beautiful Lake Lily in Maitland, Florida.
A boutique art festival with only 150 artists vying for over $20,000 in awards.  The Maitland Rotary Art Festival is the only night-time fine art show in Florida.  With subtle live entertainment and sparkling lights the evening hours create magical experiences for artists and patrons alike."

It's a rare art festival because it's also open at night and it's perfect for a date night (hint hint).

You can get more information on their website.

Run Baby, Run.

I love how you start your day out as normal as can be and when the day comes to an end, you are at a completely different point.

Sometimes it can be a good thing, others can be a bad thing.

Today an idea hit me and I just ran with it.

I ran as fast as I could to a local university and got some information about getting my graduate degree.

And while I'm both nervous and scared... I'm excited.

I always said I wanted to get at least my Masters degree (and maybe one day my doctorate?) and teach writing at a college, but then I had kids and they took over my life.

Now that they are both older and Roo is in school and Turtle would benefit from daycare, I'm really excited about making something more of my life.

Not that I don't love my blog and everything it's brought me, I just want more.

I want to be able to say I have my Masters and that I'm following that dream I had years ago.

How amazing would it be to say that?

Maybe in 12 months (and thousands of dollars in debt later), I will be able to say just that.

In Mourning of an iPod

Last Christmas, I got the best present I've ever received: an iPod.

Yes, I'm serious.

I love that damn thing.

My iPod, with the cute green case, has saved me time and time again. It's there to check emails in the middle of the night, join a Twitter party while nursing a baby, keep track of my bank balance, entertain my oldest with videos and games and everything else you can think of.

It has even found amazing cookie recipes for me.

I love it.

I sleep next to it every night (it's on my nightstand ever waiting).

Three days ago I used it to take some photos for an upcoming post, put it to the side to play with my girls and then... gone.

Up and walked away.

I searched everywhere.

I've searched places an iPod should never go.

Under the fridge, in the pantry, under the stove, in the dumpster (yes, a dumpster), under my bed, in my closet, in the playroom, under the couches, in the couches... On the top bunk, in the magazine bin, the bathroom cabinets, the bathroom drawers, in the fridge, in the silverware drawer.

You get the picture.

I've done all of this every day for three days.

This morning I looked for my charger and noticed it was missing too.

Now, I won't lie.... I have sneaky family members that have stolen stuff from me before.

I'm not calling anyone out, I just have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Wouldn't I have found it by now?

I just want it back... I want to google while watching cartoons, take photos of random things while on a walk and I want to tweet with my buddies.

Is that to much to ask?

iPod, please come home.

Warning: Weaning is Painful.

Back when I weaned Roo, I was an emotional train-wreck.

I was hormonal, cranky, bitchy and in pain.

Oh, the pain.

Now that I've weaned Turtle... I'm hormonal, cranky, bitchy and in tons of pain.

Oh, the pain.

Weaning is painful, emotionally and physically.

(Warning for my male readers, it gets graphic here.... so turn away).

My boobs are rock hard and the slightest brush against them (or the random 40 pound 4 year old landing on them) is agonizing.

I'm talking gasping, doubling over in pain kind of agonizing.

I feel physically out of whack, like sick to my stomach with body aches.

Then there's the tears.

The mood swings.

The desire to throw yourself in bed with a pint of Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Brownie Fudge ice cream and watch horrible reality tv while you mull over how your life sucks.

I'm not lying here.

That's what I did last night.

And today while talking to a friend I completely lost control and broke down over the stupidest thing and ended up ruining my makeup for the day.

I know that it will get better (Roo is testament to that) and that Turtle is going to be just fine (we have had only one breakdown from her).

It just takes time and I've got nothing on time but my hands.

Wish me luck.... I'm going to need it.

Eden Fantasys, Not Just Toys

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store

Some people tend to shy away from shops like Eden Fantasys (the horror, I know!) because they consider them intimidating.

I say if you are one of those gals (or guys), start out small.

By pass all the kinky stuff that intially turns you off (again, the horror!) and go for something a bit more... tame.

Did you know that Eden Fantasys has a large assortment of sensual candles and massage oils?

Or that they have a full line of costumes if you want to go in that direction?

If you want to spice up your love life, you don't have to go full on, hard core. You can take it slow and ease in to it.

Eden Fantasys can help you achieve whatever goal you have in the bedroom. Their website is easy to navigate, friendly for all-sexes and everything is split up into nicely defined categories.

So if you want to avoid certain items, you can filter them out by using the handy dandy categories they provide.

It’s really simple and I highly encourage you to venture that way in your love life.

What’s the harm?

Sexy lingerie and a smell good candle could be the perfect path for you.

I received compensation for this post. All opinions in this post are 100% my own. Please see my full disclosure policy for more information.

Review: KidFresh

I'm not going to lie to you, being a Mom of two who spends her whole day shuttling kids around, running errands, fixing boo-boos and whatnot is hard.

So when dinner time rolls around, I'm exhausted.

And lacking the energy to cook.

I won't lie, sometimes my girls eat cheerios for dinner.

We've even had lollipops and goldfish crackers for dinner once (just once!).

I have seen the "kid themed" microvable meals on the market, but always pass them up due to high levels of sodium and the overall unhealthy factor they carry.

Luckily, KidFresh has come on the scene (the "scene" is the grocery store where I spend ALL of my extra time, seriously).

KidFresh are a healthy meal just for kids. They are all natural (nothing artificial at all!), there are hidden veggies in them and they have a great taste that kids love.

I asked Roo what she thought of them and she said: Yummy.

Can't get a better review than that, can you?

KidFresh is giving me a healthy alternative to those cereal dinners and I appreciate it.

You can get KidFresh in six recipes: Wagon Wheel Macaroni and Cheese (my daughters favorites), Twisted Pasta with Meatballs, Rainbow Rice and Chicken,  Chicken Quesadilla and Spaghetti Loop Bolognese.

KidFresh are only available at Publix's in the south, you can click here to find out if they are available where you are.

If you live in the South and want to try KidFresh meals, I have six FREE coupons to giveaway (Three coupons for two winners). All you need to do to win is tell me what's the worst meal you ever have served to your kids for dinner.

Don't hold back, I told you mine.

Giveaway ends September 28, 2011.

Good Luck!

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Kidfresh and received Kidfreshcoupons and products to facilitate my review, coupons to giveaway, and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

Breastfeeding is Coming to an End, Sadly.

Last night I decided that I wouldn't nurse Turtle before bedtime.

So as we were getting ready for bed, I gathered up all her essentials (binky, Mickey doll, horse doll and Boppy pillow) and we cuddled up in bed to go to sleep.

She fussed a little but was soothed with her sippy cup of milk (which leaked all over me, yay). She did turn to my boob a few times in frustration but I gave her the binky instead and eventually she settled into sleep.

Without my boob.

Yes, my heart broke a little but I have to remember I made this decision (not her).

I decided not to continue this relationship, therefore I must deal with the outcome (even if there are tears because of it).

We are going to try again tonight and see if the whole nighttime routine goes as smoothly.

Wish us luck.

Weaning off the Boob

A while back I mentioned weaning Turtle off the boob.

A few months if I can recall correctly.

I have to confess.... She's still on the boob.

I just haven't been able to give it up yet and I'm not sure why.

She doesn't really need it. She doesn't ask for it. She just takes it if I offer it.

I think it's more of a 'I need her' kinda thing.

With everything going crazy in my off-line world, I feel like I need some stability... something that I can guarantee will happen.

It's nice to know that no matter what happens in my crazy day, at the end of it, I can crawl into bed with her, snuggle up and nurse.

But soon it will have to end.

I got a prescription the other day that isn't allowed to be used while breastfeeding... and I have it sitting on my nightstand, waiting for me.

I look at it sometimes while nursing her.

I'm also a planner and like to have a solid end date in my mind before I commit to giving things up (I did this with smoking 12 years ago and it worked!).

While I'm not going to pick a date right this second (even though I should), I'm still going to hold on to my baby for just a little bit longer.

What's the rush, right?

Dear Roo: Best Buds

This past month there has been an amazing amount of change going on in your life.

Despite all my protests and affirmations that you were going to be home schooled.... you started pre-school.

At a church of all places.

And you know what, you love it.

And you know what, I love that you love it.

I did want to home school you for selfish reasons. You are my best bud, my sidekick, my big girl... and the thought of you leaving me for three hours a day, five days a week KILLED me.

But when I pick you up from school and you're so happy and excited and you tell me about everything you did that day and how much fun you had and you name all of your best friends, I know I made the right choice.

I see the changes in you and I marvel at it.

You like to sing songs now (which before made you embarrassed... or maybe it was my loud, obnoxious singing that made you embarrassed?), your skills at letters and numbers have improved, you can write your name like a pro and you can tell me bible stories!

You are an inspiration to me and I am so proud of you.

I love you so much and even though you are not with me for three hours a day, five days a week you still are my best bud.

Never Forget

I think it's silly for me to tell you that I can remember exactly where I was and exactly what I was doing when 9/11 happened.

I think it's silly because everyone in America (and places beyond) can remember the details of that day.

The bumper sticker is utterly true, we never will forget.

I wanted to post on my blog about 9/11 because I wanted a chance to remember all those men and women that lost their lives that day, especially the first responders.

The men and women who rushed into that building, without regard for their own safety, because it was their job and they knew people needed to be saved.

They went in without a second thought and those people are true heroes.

I also wanted to post about 9/11 because I wanted to share with you what I learned from that experience.

I learned that you should never take anything for granted and that you need to be thankful everyday for your lives. I know that I learned that I am grateful for the people fighting to keep our country free and the people that continue to rush into burning buildings and dodge bullets to keep us safe from harm.

I also learned that it's important to hug your loved ones close every day.

So on 9/11, I will stop chasing kids and picking noses to remember what happened that day and all those people that lost their lives.

Busch Gardens Announces a New Show!

Straight from a press release (word for word):

Busch Gardens’ Biggest Ice Show To Date Will Take the Ice on February 2
TAMPA (September 8, 2011) — For more than five decades, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has set the industry’s standard for delivering unforgettable entertainment experiences, with Broadway-style stage spectaculars like KaTonga: Musical Tales From the Jungle and innovative ice shows like World Rhythms on Ice. This winter, the park will combine some of the most amazing aspects of its entertainment history and debut its biggest ice show to date: Iceploration takes the stage on Feb. 2, 2012.
Starting February 2, a cast of 20 brings to life an all-new adventure filled with world-class skaters, amazing aerial performances, master puppetry and live animal stars, with shows daily in the Moroccan Palace.
“The grand scale of Iceploration sets a new standard of entertainment that further solidifies Busch Gardens as one of Florida’s premier theme parks,” said Busch Gardens Park President Jim Dean. “This show reintroduces the ice show to our most loyal fans while bringing together the things Busch Gardens stage productions do best: world-class entertainment with top-notch skaters, amazing costumes, original music, larger-than-life puppets and even animal stars.”
Iceploration inspires audiences to “explore the world” on a 30-minute journey to the four corners of the earth. This multi-sensory story, told through theatrical skating and an all-new original score, is the collaboration of an award-winning creative team with Broadway credentials, including Tony Award-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes (The Drowsy Chaperone, Best Costume Design Tony winner 2007; Legally Blonde the Musical, Best Costume Design Tony nominee 2007).
The 30-minute show opens with Austin, a digital-savvy preteen, explaining how technology has made his generation more connected to the world than ever before. But his grandfather – and old-world explorer – argues that the boy is more disconnected than he realizes, and takes him on an adventure around the globe. Through their travels they visit the African Serengeti, Great Barrier Reef, the Arctic and the Amazon rainforest.
The adventure unfolds as they arrive in the African Serengeti. Here, larger-than-life puppets and spectacular set design bring elephants and other awe-inspiring animals to life at a watering hole. Solo and chorus skating performances accompanied by acrobatics tell an anecdote of an agile cheetah stalking graceful gazelles and meerkats.
Austin and Grandpa then dive into the Great Barrier Reef to explore the harmony of life on the ocean floor. An amazing black light transition and never-before-seen helium-filled puppets immerse the audience in the wonders of the sea, filled with parrotfish and lionfish, sea urchins, turtles and a moray eel.
In the Arctic, majestic skaters become striking snow flurries as a winter storm threatens the travelers. Austin and Grandpa witness even more beauty as they encounter the Aurora Borealis phenomenon, represented with theatrical lighting and projections. Then, they share the stage with amazing live animal stars, including a Siberian lynx and a sled of Siberian huskies as they continue to traverse the tundra.
Austin and Grandpa wrap up their adventure around the globe immersed in the lush, tropical Amazon Rainforest. Squirrel monkeys, sun conures and colorful macaws fill the air as playful frogs and a graceful dragonfly skate into the grand finale: a new signature song called “Meet the World.”
Construction has already begun to transform the Moroccan Palace into the icy new site for this ground-breaking show, as well as an exciting version of Busch Gardens’ classic holiday ice show. This holiday season, the Moroccan Palace will hostChristmas on Ice with several shows daily from November 21 to January 1.
Iceploration performances are included with any daily park admission or annual Pass. For more information, visit
Over the next few months, Busch Gardens will be sharing more details about this amazing new show. If you’re not already a fan, “like” Busch Gardens Tampa Bay at to get all of the latest updates. Or check out the park blog at to follow the progress up through the opening next year."

I was not compensated in any way for this post. I post only because I can.

Dear Turtle: Way Too Fast

I remember when you were born, I knew instantly that you were going to be different.

Completely different.

I love this about you because you keep me on my toes.

Just when I think I have an inkling of an idea of what is going on in that pretty little head of yours, you switch it up.

I like to give you the title of "Hell on Wheels."

I mean it in the nicest way possible.

But it's so true.

You like to climb ladders, tables, couches, the bunk beds...

When I take you to a store, you zip off down the aisles like a demon, shrieking and giggling the entire time.  While it's cute the first two or three times, after that I am not the happiest camper.

I always forgive you though, always.

Especially because you are sleeping through the night!

Oh, I love being able to say those words.

Those six words that I worked so damn hard for!

I've earned the right to shout those words from the rooftop.

Of course, getting you to sleep is still a pain.

But I'll take that as a trade. I'll wrestle with you for two hours a night if you will sleep through the night once you get there.

Sounds fair, right?

But no matter what, I love you and I wouldn't trade you for anything.

Review: Tiny Prints

I remember when I was a kid the choice for birthday invitations was very... slim.

They tending to be your typical red, blue and yellow balloons with Happy Birthday written on top and lines where you could fill in all the essential information.

Yes, they were simple and they got people the information that they needed to get them to the party.

In today's times though, those invitations are rare (they do exist, I've seen them with my own eyes) but why have generic fill in the blank invitations when Tiny Prints offers you unique invitations tailored to your tots interests that are AH-MA-ZING!

I will literally spend months devouring each and every birthday party invitation and picking just the perfect one for my girls birthday parties.

I'm serious, even though it's only September and their birthdays are in February and March, I'm already planning.

I like to think I'm super prepared.

I've narrowed down my favorites to this one:

Oh, and there's this one....

So many to choose from!

All I know is I adore them all.

You will too, trust me.

Check out everything Tiny Prints has to offer.

Date Night: 1st Thursdays @ Orlando Art Museum

You know, I really could get hooked on this whole Date Night thing.

People are not kidding when they say that Date Night is essential to a relationship.

Now, I love my kids (you totally know I do) but I'm not going to lie: It was wonderful to get out with my husband and do something, just the two of us.

And it was something we both love to do and while we have done it with kids, this time we were able to go for ourselves.

The Orlando Art Museum.

We attended their monthly event, 1st Thursdays. Each month there is a new theme with new art to view. It's a great event with tons of people, wine tastings and yummy food.

Last night, we attended 1st Thursday and they were highlighting artwork by UCF Alumni and Faculty members.

There was a wide array of great works and a fun side note was that there was a contest for Best of Show and we got to vote (I picked #9, Under the Bodhi Tree by R. Fox... if you were wondering).

Another great thing about attending this event was that the rest of the museum was open to browse and contemplate pieces of art. So we got to wander aimlessly, without holding the hands of two squirmy girls and actually breathe in the art.

It was wonderful.

We could debate our favorite pieces and compare why we liked one piece and didn't like the other. We could stare at a painting or a sculpture for more than a minute without having to chase someone down!

It was a perfect date night.

The Orlando Art Museum hosts 1st Thursdays every Month and you can find out more information by clicking on their website.

I received two tickets to attend 1st Thursday for this review. All opinions in this post are 100% my own. Please see my full disclosure policy for more information.

The Disney Channel's Pixie Hollow Games

My youngest is a true Tinker Bell fan.

Whenever she sees a picture of Tink or any of her Fairy Friends, she starts screeching and pointing.

I love that she loves Tink so much because growing up, Tink was always my favorite Disney character.

So when we were watching the latest Tinker Bell movie a while back, I was kinda excited to see that Disney was putting together the Pixie Hollow Games with all your favorite Fairies!

From the press release: "In "Pixie Hollow Games," all of the fairies and sparrow men in Pixie Hollow
gather for the legendary three-day Olympic-style competition event, which
culminates with one fairy guild being named champion of the Games. Determined
not to let the garden fairies' unfortunate history of not performing well at the
Games get to her, newcomer Chloe (voiced by Brenda Song) works to convince all
of the other garden fairies, which includes her teammate Rosetta (voiced by Megan
Hilty) and the pragmatic Fern (voiced by Zendaya), that they must work together
and dig down deep to break their well-known losing streak. Along the way, the
reigning champion storm fairies, including Rumble (voiced by Jason Dolley) and
Glimmer (voiced by Tiffany Thornton), continue to intimidate and outperform their
competitors, but with Chloe's spirited determination, they are forced to work harder
than ever before.

The virtual world of Pixie Hollow will host and celebrate the Games with
the "How Will You Train?" art contest. The contest, which runs from August 16 -
September 6, invites Disney Fairies fans to draw and share how they will train for
the Pixie Hollow Games, with the grand prize winner receiving the ultimate viewing
party kit. The kit includes everything needed to enjoy the "Pixie Hollow Games"
premiere on Disney Channel, including a TV, Blu-ray/DVD player, a Tinker Bell DVD
collection, party supplies, and more. To enter the "How Will You Train?" art contest,
fans can submit their art either by U.S. Mail or by Internet via http://"

I cannot wait to participate in this with my girl and as soon as I get more information, I'll pass it along to you.
