Turtle was nothing like that in the beginning.
She would nurse for a few moments here and there and if I dare bring a book, she would swat it away. She wanted all my attention on her.
Totally understandable.
Their differences in their approach to nursing was crazy.
The one thing they do have in common is their inability to get through the night without nursing.
Neither of my babes (Roo sleeps like a champ now) could make it without me and my boobs.
It took Roo 14 months to give up the drink in the middle of the night. Turtle is still guzzling like a newborn.
And I've heard it from everyone: let her cry it out.
Turtle is stubborn about her milk. Deny that child and there is hell to pay.
With Roo I was clueless (and exhausted) so I didn't know what to do.
I know what to do now, it's just that Turtle has her own game plan.
And while I tend to walk around like a zombie due to her stubborn love of my milk, I have to have faith that eventually she will work out her addiction and learn about portion control.
Roo figured it out and is such an amazing sleeper now that I feel like if she works it out she will be the same great sleeper that Roo is.
If not, I am sure she will learn to wean herself before college.

Isnt' it funny how different your two kids can be? Mine were like that too. My 2nd child wanted to be attached to my boob 24/7-seriously....
Babies really do know what they need-she'll know when she's ready to give it up.
